I Know That Trivia

For bars, pubs and restaurants

Trivia on your TV screens, any time.

Your TVs run the game. Your customers play on their phones. No host, no paper, no fuss: press Start and it runs itself, from lunch to last call or any time in between, with your own promotions in every break.

A smiling woman in a pub holds up her phone showing a geography question, with the same question on the big TV behind her.
The question on the TV, the answers in their hands. Everyone in the room plays the same game at once.

How it works

  1. Press Start

Connect your TV once: open iktt.net/tv in its browser and type the code it shows into your admin page. Then choose how long (until a time, for a few hours, or until you stop it) and press Start.

  2. They scan the code

Customers scan the QR code on the TV or a table card (or type your short address, like iktt.net/yourpub), pick a name, and play. No app, nothing to install, free for them. The code changes every game, so nobody plays from home.

  3. It runs as long as you like

Fifteen questions a game, points for speed, a top 10 after each question and a drumroll for the winner. Then a break with your promotions, and the next game starts by itself.

What you get

Your promotions on the TV

Every game has two one-minute "Be right back" pauses with two of your promotions each, and the break between games mixes your promotions with just-for-fun questions. Upload your own pictures, or type a few lines and a price and we draw it in style. Up to 10 at a time, in the order you choose; even sell the spots to local businesses. When trivia is off, the TV can keep showing them.

A sample promotion on the TV: Wing Night Wednesday, a pound of wings and a pint every Wednesday from 5 pm, $15, with a plate of wings and a pint of beer.

Leaderboards that bring them back

Today's top 10 and this year's top 30 show in every break, so there's always a score to beat next game, and next visit. Phones tell players how close they are: "430 points to make this year's top 30".

Seasonal specials

In season, special event games join the mix: Halloween Trivia now, with more holidays planned. They have their own questions, and the TV and phones change to the event's colours. Choose how often (every third game to start; every game for a theme night; every second to tenth; or off), or tap "Make the next game Halloween" when the room's in the mood. They count on the leaderboards like any other game.

You choose the difficulty

A slider from easy-going to know-it-all sets the mix of easy, medium and hard questions in every game.

Lots of questions

Currently over 1,600 questions available, with more added every month. Repeats are minimized at your venue until they've all been asked.

Automatic name filtering

Customer entered names are scanned for issues and changed automatically.

No host needed

No quizmaster to book, no answer sheets to mark. The TV keeps time and score, and the questions come with a fact after each answer.

Questions

What do I need?

A TV, and something on it with a web browser: a smart TV's browser, a streaming stick, or a laptop plugged in. Plus Wi-Fi or mobile data for your customers' phones.

Can we show it on more than one TV?

Yes, on every TV at your location, with no splitter or video distribution system needed. Each TV opens iktt.net/tv in its own browser (a smart TV, a streaming stick or a laptop) and connects with its own code. They all show the same game in step, because the timing comes from our server. Each TV has its own sound button, so you can have sound on in one room and off in another.

Do customers have to pay, or download an app?

No and no. They scan the code on the TV and play in their phone's browser, free.

How many people can play?

As many as you can fit. Each phone is one player, and there's no limit.

How long is a game?

About 21 minutes: 15 questions with 45 seconds each, two short "Be right back" pauses for your promotions, and the winner. Then a break you set (2 to 10 minutes, 5 to start), so about two games an hour.

Can we do Halloween trivia?

Yes. From October 1 to November 2, Halloween Trivia games join the mix by themselves (every third game unless you change it, or every game for a Halloween party), with their own spooky questions and colours. More holidays are planned, each in its own season.

How do I stop for the day?

Press Stop on your admin page: straight away, or after the game being played. Or set an end time when you start, and the last game starts only if it can finish in time.

Can I cancel? Is there a contract?

Cancel any time from your admin page; trivia keeps running to the end of the period you've paid for. No contract. Annual plans can be refunded in full within 14 days of the charge. See the Terms.

What about tax?

Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST or other sales tax where it applies, shown on your invoice.

Can I give prizes?

Of course. The game shows the winner of every game and the day's and year's best; what you give is up to you (and the contest rules where you are).

We're in Quebec. Can we sign up?

Not yet, sorry: the trivia is in English only for now, and we hope to add French.

More than one location?

Each location has its own licence and address. Already signed up? Log in and choose Add another location: one login for all your venues. The free trial is for your first location; ones you add are paid from the first day. You can also invite a manager for each location, who runs trivia there from their own login without seeing your billing.
